Clifford Chance has strengthened its intellectual property practice in Asia-Pacific with the appointment of Jonathan Chu as a Hong Kong Partner and the firm's new Head of Intellectual Property for the region.

Chu joins Clifford Chance from CMS, where he was a Partner and previously led the firm's Beijing office. His practice spans intellectual property, technology and commercial matters, with experience advising businesses on IP strategy, licensing, technology transactions, due diligence, commercialisation and disputes.

Chu advises clients across a broad range of industries, including technology, healthcare and life sciences, consumer products, media and entertainment, gaming, automotive and mobility, and clean energy. His work also covers emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics and digital assets, particularly where these developments raise complex commercial, regulatory and IP considerations.

In his new role, Chu will advise clients across Asia-Pacific, including Greater China, on the intellectual property dimensions of corporate transactions, investments and commercial arrangements, while supporting businesses pursuing cross-border expansion.
