Terms & Conditions
The rules for using thelaw.me, reading THE LAW Magazine online, holding an account and sending us submissions.
Last updated: 19 October 2026
1. About these terms
The website thelaw.me (the "Site") is operated by THE LAW LLC ("THE LAW", "we", "us").
These terms apply to everyone who visits the Site, reads THE LAW Magazine online, creates an account or sends us anything through it. By using the Site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Site.
2. Information, not legal advice
Articles, interviews, magazine issues, Directory rankings and everything else on the Site are published as general information about the legal profession.
Nothing on the Site is legal advice, and reading it does not create a lawyer–client relationship with THE LAW or with any contributor. For advice on your own situation, consult a qualified lawyer.
3. Rankings, awards and recognition
Directory rankings, award results and recognition such as International Advisor status reflect THE LAW's own editorial research and judgement, as described on the methodology pages. They are opinions, not guarantees about the quality of any firm's or person's work.
If you are ranked or recognised, you may say so publicly as long as you state it accurately, with the year and the category, and do not alter THE LAW's name or logos.
4. Our content and how you may use it
THE LAW Magazine and the content of the Site are owned and published by THE LAW LLC. Authors and contributors keep their rights in their own work.
You may read the Site and the magazine for your own use, share links to them, and quote short passages with a clear credit to THE LAW and a link to the source.
No one may copy, republish or reproduce the magazine or the Site's content, in whole or in part, without written consent from THE LAW's editors and, where applicable, the author.
5. Accounts and membership
When you create an account or apply for membership, give accurate details and keep them up to date. Keep your password to yourself: you are responsible for what is done with your account.
Membership tiers and their benefits are described on the Membership page. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
6. What you send us
This covers articles and editorial submissions, award nominations, Directory submissions, event listings, proposals and any other material sent through the Site. By sending it, you confirm that:
- the information is accurate and you are entitled to share it;
- it does not infringe anyone else's rights or break any law;
- THE LAW may review it, edit it for length, clarity and style, and publish it in print and online with credit to you.
We decide what to publish and are not obliged to publish anything we receive.
7. Using the Site properly
Please do not:
- use the Site for anything unlawful, misleading or defamatory;
- try to get into accounts, the dashboard or systems you are not authorised to use;
- interfere with the Site's operation or security, or upload malicious code;
- use our forms to send spam or to impersonate someone else.
8. Events, workshops and registrations
Registering for an event, workshop or course through the Site is subject to the details published for it, including any fee, eligibility and cancellation terms.
We may need to change a speaker, venue, date or programme. If we do, we will tell registered participants as soon as we can.
9. Other websites, videos and advertising
The Site links to other websites and shows videos hosted on YouTube, advertisements and partner content. We are not responsible for other websites or their content, and showing an advertisement or partner is not an endorsement of it.
10. Availability and accuracy
We work to keep the Site accurate and available, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or up to date, and we may change or remove content at any time.
11. Limits of our liability
As far as the law allows, THE LAW is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on content published on the Site, or from being unable to use it.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Your privacy
How we collect and use personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the Site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
