Sullivan & Cromwell LLP has opened its first Middle East office in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), marking the firm's formal expansion into the region. The firm has received full regulatory authorisation from ADGM's Registration Authority.
Ahmed T. el-Gaili has rejoined S&C as a partner to lead its Middle East practice. He previously spent six years with the firm in London and brings nearly two decades of experience advising sovereign wealth funds, governments, state-owned enterprises, corporates and private equity firms across the region.
His practice covers M&A, private equity, joint ventures, project finance and development, and restructuring, with sector experience spanning energy, infrastructure, life sciences, telecommunications and technology.
El-Gaili will work alongside S&C's wider team of partners with deep regional experience as the firm expands its offering across the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the broader Middle East.
