First awarded in the 2018 annual Law Talks, The Rising Star award is presented to young lawyers who share similar attributes to the “Lawyer of The Year” nominees.

Criteria
|
The “Rising Star” nominees are named based on the following criteria:
1. Must be a Partner or Senior Associate of a Law Firm or Office
2. Age: between 30 and 40
3. Previous rankings in other publications
4. The achievements of the Lawyer throughout his career that are tied to their name.
5. The academic background of the nominee
6. The nominee’s role in the legal community
7. Testimonials by the nominee’s team
8. The effects of the nominee’s achievements on the firm and the legal community

Lena Hamdi
Lena Hamdi is a Partner at Andersen Tax & Legal Egypt. She has extensive experience providing market entry strategies and consolidated legal and business advise to companies, particularly start-ups.
Her main expertise lies in the area of intellectual property registration and protection. She is also capable of providing GDPR impact assessments for technology companies, in accordance with EU, US and Egyptian Laws.

Lamyaa Gadelhk
Lamyaa Gadelhak is a partner of Baker McKenzie's Cairo office. She has over 15 years of experience in banking & finance, energy, mining, infrastructure, environmental markets and climate change. Lamyaa spent almost a year in the contracts department of a major petroleum company before joining the Firm in June 2005.
Lamyaa was admitted to the Egyptian Bar of Association in 2005 and a member of the Institute for Energy Law of the Center for American and International Law. she has been widely recognized by global periodicals over the years. She has contributed to various publications offering insights on her practice.

Tarek Badawy
Tarek is a Partner in Shahid Law Firm’s International Business and Dispute Resolution Groups and is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the American University in Cairo. He heads the Firm’s International Trade, and Aviation, Shipping & Transportation Teams and co-chairs the Africa desk.
He practices international law and represents clients in disputes before international tribunals, Egyptian courts, and administrative authorities. He also advises clients on day-to-day business matters in the aviation, shipping & transportation, banking & finance, energy, oil & gas, insurance & financial services, pharmaceuticals, and TMT industries.
His experience has been commended by Legal 500.

Muhammad Ussama
Muhammad is a practicing lawyer in Egypt. He started his career in the Arbitration Team at Shalakany before being appointed as a Judge at the Egyptian Council of State, serving at the State Commissioners Authority within the Judicial Section of the Council of State. He also served as a Judge within different circuits and levels of the Administrative Courts.
He re-joined Shalakany as a Senior Associate in April 2018. His practice focuses on commercial and state-investor investment arbitration.

Sherif El-Hosseiny
Sherif is a founding Partner of Rizkana & Partners. His primary practice is banking & finance, aviation, real estate and hospitality. He advised numerous Egyptian and
multinational leading banks and financial institutions in connection with various high-value syndicated facilities and loans, project finance, settlements of debts and debt restructures.
He has also been involved in representing major multinational aircraft leasing companies and financial institutions in connection with various cross-border transactions related to the lease and finance of various aircraft to public and private carriers in the Egyptian market and abroad.

Youssef Al Saman
