OVERVIEW

This award is presented annually as a part of The Law Talks. The award is given to the managing partner/Principal of a selected firm or office. The nomination for the award is not only based on the legal achievements of the lawyer, but also on his role in developing the community. “Lawyer of the Year” is awarded to shed the light on prominent members of the legal community who are regarded as role models to next generations, and respected by their peers.

Criteria

the Lawyer of the year is nominated based on
the following criteria:
1. Managing/ Senior Partner or Principal of a Law Firm or Office
2. Age: between 35 and 50
3. Must not be a part of a start-up or a newly established firm
4. Must have positive clients testimonials
5. Must have strong achievements tied to their name over the past years
6. A highly ranking of the lawyer over the minimum 5 years (In various publications)
7. The academic background of the nominee
8. The positive role in the legal community
9. Positive perception by team members
10. The affects of their achievements on their respective firms and the community as a whole

Nermine Tahoun
Nermine has been working as an international Corporate and Commercial lawyer for over 20 years.
She established her own firm, Tahoun Law Office, in 2009 in Egypt acting as its Managing Partner ever since. She has remarkable corporate advisory roles with the government and various other high-stake entities.
She took part in drafting the Egyptian PPP Law and played key role in drafting PPP related model agreements and direct agreements. She was the head of the legal team of the Egyptian government and successfully reached financial close of the first PPP in the MENA region (New Cairo Wastewater Treatment Plant).

Mohamed Salah Abdel-Wahab
Prof. Dr. Mohmed S. Abdel Wahab is the Chair of the Private International law Department and Professor of International Arbitration at Cairo University. He is the Vice President of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, Member of the ICCA Governing Board, and Vice- Chair of the IBA Arab Regional Forum to name only a few.
He heads the Arbitration department of Zulficar & Partners, from which he served as a ‘Sole Arbitrator’, ‘Presiding Arbitrator’, ‘Party Appointed Arbitrator’, ‘Legal Expert’ or ‘Counsel’ in more than 200 arbitration cases involving parties from the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Canada, and the United States in cases under the auspices of the AAA, AAA-BCDR, CRCICA, DIAC, DIFC-LCIA, ICC, ICSID, LCIA, LMAA, SCC, and SIAC, as well as in ad hoc UNCITRAL proceedings.
He is, truly, recognized as a world- leading arbitrator and arbitration practitioner on international investment and international commercial arbitration.
